Bollywood in Cannes.
Scanning through the Cannes news, I noticed our Indian maidens all decked up in western designer outfits. Its sad to see our "cultural representatives" choosing Armani and Cavalli instead of exposing our rich cultural variety. Ash should know better, last year her wardrobe was Indian but dull so she was criticised. But this year instead of finding a better designer, she chose the easy way.

Hi...
Well i was trying to find some thing online as I didnt see the cannes festival...Anyways, as much as we would probably like to see our stars in Indian attire, will tht always work? I am not sure as you know , even in Miss India, you have evening gowns etc etc...How many wear sarees for their final round...I dont remember seeing any...
Personally I would love to drape a saree as it is just so very elegant!!! But I wont be bothered or scar anyone who decides to wear something else, its their choice in the end! :)
Yes what u say is true. I too love to wear sarees, well, as long as someone is draping it for me...:)
As for beauty contests, its become more like a preparation for Bollywood than anything else. But in big events like Cannes, it would be best to showcase our own culture than trying to look western. Anyway this is my opinion.
For cannes news u can check out rediff specials, they have a feature on it.
I love sarees too but sometimes it is nice to be different, to show the world that we can look beautiful in any attire.
Well! Aishwarya has to have a global outlook if she`s going to go fetching some good hollywood offers, SHe has to project herself as a global actress, who can cater to an audience all over the world, so I guess that about sums up the justification behind her wardrobe.
Hey, me first time here, Nice Blog!
Regards,
Srijith.
Thanks Srijith and welcome to my blog.
I didn't see the live telecast of the Cannes Film Festival. Though i am kind of following what is happening out there. I already saw the Alomodovar's movie Volver which is competing the top prize...check out my blog for the article if u have time...i did see the Da Vinci Code too...I was disappointed that there was no Indian Movie competing or no Indian personality in the jury or opening the film festival...After Arundati Roy, Aish, Nandita Das...there is no one this year. Disappointment!!!
Aishwarya looked fabuluous. But I do agree with srijith unni ... she is not just indian stary anymore. she is an international star...she opened the Cannes Film Festival last year...Her face is seen everywhere in France, in the advert posters, to all those magazine adverts...for L'oreal and other brands...And also in the TV and movie halls...
But you are right, i would've loved to see her to wear some Indian outfit...maybe not a saree..but maybe an indian look or a indian designer...well that is her choice!!!
